Animal hermit crab Hermit crabs can live for 12 to 70 years. Hermit crabs are reddish brown and some have purple spots. They have shells and claws. Hermit crabs are only a few millimetres long.

 They live in there shells in tropical areas and trees near the ocean.

 Coconuts hermit crabs eat fruit nuts, brine, shrimp and fish flakes.

 Hermit crabs predators are cuttlefish, squid, octopus and other fish types.

 The hermit crab’s life cycle is egg to zoeato, to megaloop, to juvenile crab, to hermit crab.

 Hermit crabs have 1,100 different breeds.
